Over the past month I've encountered an issue, that is quite annoying. I'm using AVG 2013 Free on Win XP.
Each time I start my computer, a Windows Explorer folder opens. Its destination is "C:\Documents and Settings\Myusername\Application Data\AVG". Inside this folder, there is only one subfolder, named AWL2012, with numerous subfolders and non-executable files. I am not aware of the purpose of existence of this folder and what AWL2012 means, but if it is not harmful, please help me stop opening Windows Explorer at start up.
Unfortunately I couldn't help myself with the most obvious "start up" folder and registry key places.
Should I say, I attempted to attach the Autoruns file, and got the following error:
React to postThread: AVG Related Folder Opens @ StartupForm validation failed.
Field '' is invalid. File is in forbidden types jpeg,jpg,gif,png,doc,pdf,txt,htm,html,ace,gtar,gz,rar,tar,zip,7z,log,csv,cab,docx,app,reg,nfo,.
The file I tried to attach is Autoruns.arn with a size of 1940kb.
I have the exact same problem. I have run the "Autoruns" program, as you suggest, and have attached it to this post.
