I recently started having the following warning appear from the taskbar.

AVG Internet Security | Warning!
This is an illegal version of AVG Internet Security
You're using an illegal copy of AVG Internet Security.
For continued protection, please obtain a valid license.

Previous to this message the version of AVG 2012 Free installed was

I reinstalled AVG 2012 Free from CNET following the AVG free link
The downloaded file is
avg_free_stb_all_2012_2197_cnet installed on 22-Aug-2012

I received the warning again after re-installing AVG 2012 Free.

Is this an undetected virus, or is the license key oversubscribed?

My system is as follows
Win XP Pro sp 3 build 2600
AVG Free 2012.0.2197 db version 2437/5221
I also run Malware bytes

Yesterday from another account on my computer I received an AVG pop-up from the taskbar saying that my license key had been changed, and provided an option to save it to the clipboard.
Today the same Illegal Version warning came up from the taskbar.

Is this an AVG issue or something else??

Hello lee_au1420,

There is the campaign targeting illegal AVG license numbers running these days. AVG is automatically switched to the 30-day trial version if the banner was ignored.

We recommend following the AVG 2012 (incl. Previous Versions) Uninstall / Re-Install Instructions to re-install AVG.

What is the situation now?

Thank you.
