How to troubleshoot unspecified error reported by AVG:

If one of AVG software components encounters a fatal error, an informative window is displayed. An example of such error window is attached to this article.
The data uploaded using this dialogue window are analyzed automatically and passed to developers. Based on such diagnostics data, we prioritize fixing the frequently reported problems and release AVG program update as soon as possible. Unfortunately, no feedback is provided to user when the data are uploaded. This means user does not know what exactly caused the problem, if it is a known issue and whether there is a fix coming in the following program update. To allow AVG moderators find out more details about the unexpected error, please proceed as follows:

1. After the Unspecified error occurred in AVG message is displayed (example screenshot), do not close the message window and navigate to one of the following folders (based on the installed Windows version):

Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVG<version>\Dumps\

Windows Vista/7

- Some files and folders are hidden by default operating system configuration.

2. Provide forum moderators with recently created files from that folder.

3. Close the Unspecified error occurred in AVG window.

4. If there are no recent dumps present in the abovementioned folder please try capturing crash dump files as described here.
