Since installing AVG Family Safety I have had problems with AppleMobileDeviceService.exe using 50% of my CPU continuously unless I "end process" it. I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3. I uninstalled Family Safety and the problem did not occur. As soon as I reinstalled it is happening again as soon as I plug in my ipod.

Pokornyz wrote Hello med51,
According to reports we received and our testing there was no issue with iTunes 10.4 but started with iTunes 10.5.
From our point of view this situation is caused by Apple so please try contact Apple support for help on your situation.
Thank you

I can confirm what med51 is experiencing happening on my Windows Vista machine as well and with iTunes 10.5. It did not happen with previous iTunes version, so yes it looks like a problem with Apple, but my iPod and iPhone are outside of there paid tech support and they don't monitor the Apple Discussion forums like you guys do, so unfortunately, I am going to stop using AVG Family Safety and instead use Windows built-in parental features to see if that works without causing this 100% CPU usage by AppleMobileDeviceService.exe and itunes.exe or APSAdaemon.exe
Several others have reported in Apple forums about uninstalling other Internet traffic monitoring/controlling software to get over this problem, so I do believe Apple did a boo boo, but they are too arrogant to do anything about it.

Kill Apple Processes does not help..
Hi
I have the same problem. I can kill all apple processes and also quit "apple mobile device" service. I still cannot login in iTunes Store. I have no choice to deinstall Family Safety. Then I can use iTunes Store again.
Event it is a problem of iTunes I need.
Could you please inform when the problem is fixed.

AVG clearly doesn't get it. The problem is the most recent version of iTunes: AVG, Bsecure CloudCare and other webfiltering solutions use LSPs (layered service providers) to do the filtering. Some malware/adware in the past insert LSPs, as well. I bet that there are a heck of a lot of computer users out there that are suffering badly from this software bug of Apple’s making.
Yes, Apple may have caused the problem, but doing NOTHING WHATSOEVER to find a workaround (other than roll-back iTunes) is foolish and naive. Perhaps AVG could work with these other firms and Apple to develop a workaround.
Some have had success with the followng, but not me: http://brianmorristech.com/?p=762
I will continue looking, but anticipate having to uninstall.
