Will AVG free be free after the new year?
The reason I asked is someone I know gets pop ups that indicate that AVG free will not be available after November, I do not get these pop ups. I just wanted to know if AVG free (any new version) would be available.
Thank you for the info.

Hi,
just some clarification for sure:

AVG 8.5 Free Edition will be soon ending, but there is already available AVG 9.0 Free Edition.

Direct download for AVG 9.0 installation file - http://free.avg.com/download-file-ins-afg-free

Some information about upgrade process could be found at this FAQ 2385.

Thanks

I have a number of clients that I have installed AVG 8.5 Free on their computers, and they are calling to have it removed immediately. They are getting multiple pop-ups per day saying they need to buy & install version 9, but they want nothing to do with AVG now because of the malware pop-ups. Everyone loves the product & some of our clients have indeed upgraded to the full version. What we are seeing is these pop-ups are very annoying, and clients look at them in the same way as when they see other pop-ups saying they are infected and click on this link to buy & download a virus removal program. It's like being guilty by association! I understand the desire for AVG to do marketing, but someone was really asleep at the wheel to start pushing pop-ups on the users desktop. Is this practice going to continue? Does installing the free version 9 stop this problem? Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi,

I could say "yes", it stops, as these pop ups are related with the upgrade to AVG9 (Free/Paid) from AVG8 only.

Thank you
