Hi,

I constantly get rootkit issues when running a scan. The scan process will only remove one hidden file and then says it needs to re-boot.

"";"<unknown>";"Corrupted section win32k.sys[.text] W32pArgumentTable+0xA1B7, size 8 bytes";"Object is hidden"

I have run msinfo and gmer and a scan and have attached the files.

Can you please let me know why I continue to get the issue with the scan and why the results vary from 3 to 10 to 12 to 2 to 1 to 3 again with each scan.

Many Thanks

Hi lordbarky,

maybe because you have installed AVG and Avast! on your computer. Please have a look @ FAQ 4370

Hi Will,

Its actually my mother in laws machine and the problem was that Avast went wrong, it would not uninstall or anything and just threw up constant errors.

She called Avast and they refused to fix it until she had paid 56 GBP, which she did, they claimed to have uninstalled it and a friend of hers then installed AVG.

She has an email from them confirming they removed Avast and I can not see it under control panel at all.

Fixed..

Hi Will,

Followed you FAQs and downloaded the Avast Removal tool and un-installed what was obviously a second installation which was what probably caused her the problem in the first place. Re run a scan and no rootkit issues.

Can not believe Avast charged her 56 GBP to get rid of software from a system and then never completed the task.

Shocking company.

Anyway, thanks for your help.
