Has anyone else come across this problem?
I have just installed AVG Free 2011 on a computer that had to have Windows XP Home reinstalled. The program itself seems to be working well, and doing updates properly etc. However, there is a cosmetic problem, in that the 'upgrade' button which should appear in the right-hand panel of the User Interface does not show - instead there is showing some text regarding MIME version, etc.
The same is true for the Notification which automatically pops up below the main interface panel - it shows only text regarding MIME version, etc.
I thought the problem might lie with the absence of Adobe Flash Player, but I have now installed that, and the problem remains.
Curious! Any ideas out there?

In fact all updates for both Windows and Internet Explorer have been installed, but the problem remains. Any further ideas?

I have the same problem here. The program operates seamlessly though except the texts regarding MIME version, etc. being shown at the notification area and right hand panel seems disturbing. R

AVG uses Internet Explorer core to display the banners.

Could you please confirm that you have all available Windows updates installed?

Also try to reinstall IE, make sure to install IE 9.
