How to perform a basic check of your connection status:

- Open the command line.
- Use the ping command to check whether you can reach a well known server, for example:
ping www.avg.com
ping www.yahoo.com
- You should receive 4 answers from the server.
- The time will vary depending on your connection type.
- There will be the IP address of the server displayed. Your system could be infected or the host file could be damaged if Reply from 127.0.0.1 is displayed.
