I've copied below a post I made yesterday most probably to the wrong place since I'm new to this Forum, which details my recent experience, since then I've contacted several other people I know who've been doing the upgrade; all appear to have been having problems either with the installation process itself or with the performance of their systems after upgrading, and a couple are in the process of regretfully removing all traces of AVG and using other available packages. I realise that as a user of a Free software product I don't have any particular rights apart perhaps from being able to influence colleagues in buying commercial licences, but I believe that AVG does have at least some responsibilities to its Free User client base. As far as I can see this Forum is the only way that free users have of providing feedback to the company. Is there another channel of communication available, who is it that looks after the PR side of things for this large potentially commercial user group? I am not an experience program expert but neither am I a total novice having had considerable experience both Alpha and Beta Testing software for professional editing systems and my experience and 'nose' tells me all is not well with AVG v9. Both on this site and on other sites messages indicating serious problems seem to be turning up increasingly frequently so perhaps I'm not alone. It seems to me AVG needs to urgently address things before the inevitable snowball of damaging half truths about v9 gains momentum. Just before posting this I had to totally remove AVG and install a stop gap of a competitor just in order to be able function smoothly again, and I was genuinely sad to have had to do this, having relied at home on AVG for years. The community of Free Users needs reliable and honest information, if there is a code problem thats causing this flurry its best addressed straight on and very quickly. I wish everyone involved at AVG well.
My original post
<<Have just upgraded to AVG v9.0704 on my home machine and my kids ones. IMMEDIATE and MARKED fall off in performance. Running on Windows XP SP3; IE v8: Zone Alarm: Spyware Terminator. Previously ran v8.5 in the same combination, no problems everything ran smoothly and very fast. Until a couple of hours ago I was a very happy user and have been for years. I have tried disabling the Link Scanner but that didn't seem to improve things much. Machine's behaving as if resources were being gobbled up but Task Manager doesn't indicate a problem. I can't find any evidence of 'blockages'. What else can I do. I've noticed several internet postings on other sites indicating the only current fix is to uninstall AVG v9 completely and seek 'alternative accomodation'
I'd rather not since I would then have to look at the commercial licences I'v recommended. It was only with difficulty that I managed to even get to this site and register so severe is the problem.
Help if you can Please.>>
