I am using AVG 9.0 Free and I notice that it floppy seeks right after AVG kicks in. Is there a way to disable floppy seek in the Advance Setting option ?

Yes I still use the good old fashioned 1.44 floppy drive, the floppy still comes in handle for proggies that require floppy boot-up

Hello,

You can try to remove floppy disk drive from Resident Shield detection:
Tools - Advanced Settings - Resident Shield - Directory Excludes - Edit path - A:\ (if A: is your FDD drive)

This could be unsafe as files on the floppy disk drives will not be checked automatically though.

Thanks

Hi,

when exactly is the floppy drive seek occurring (after launching AVG user interface, after booting the system...)?

There is no reason why AVG would try accessing the floppy drive on its own. Could you confirm that the issue is rectified after AVG uninstallation?

Also, you can post here the GMER autostart output:
- Download the Gmer tool.
- Save the archive to your disc, extract it and run the tool.
- Click the > > > tab and select the Autostart tab then.
- Tick the Show all option and click the Scan button.
- When the scan is finished, use the Copy button, paste the text into a text document and save it.
- Attach the document to your next post.

Thanks

I can definitely confirm it is AVG 9 Free that is causing the floppy seek. I uninstalled it and rebooted twice just to confirm and make sure, the floppy DID NOT seek. The second I reinstalled it the floppy seek was immediate as AVG was searching for something and then again when rebooting.

Ok, problem seem to got solved, after uninstalling and re installing AVG twice no more floppy seek ...eureka !

I remember formatting my HDD and installing AVG in December 2009 and I made sure the floppy didn't seek, but between that time with the AVG daily auto updates something made it to seek.

Hi,

please provide us with full GMER autostart output as described here. (The above provided output was a result from quick rootkit scan only.)

Thanks.
