I'm getting the same exact error message. Since I attempted to update AVG, I can no longer boot normally; I can only start in Safe Mode. And now, I can't uninstall AVG. I'm stumped as to what to try next. I've rolled back most of my drivers, uninstalled recently installed software, etc. I'm running XP sp3 Media Edition on a Gateway notebook with enough resources.

Hi,
Please check AVG uninstallation (re-installation) according to these steps:

Please make sure you have uninstalled (or deactivated) all protection applications during all actions.

Thanks
