Why is it called Summer? A ridiculous name for February. I don't remember the updates having names like this previously.
I too cancelled the update and have been in a panic thinking it is a virus. I'm also confused as to why it says my version is up to date without having installed this update.
OK, AVG wanted me to install this mid-February "Summer Update", & I told it to go ahead. Everything seemed to go OK, but in the AVG user interface it says "Update Failed". (Still wants a reboot, though.) I looked at entries in the system event viewer, & they all indicate success.
Any idea what gives?
Oh. For what it's worth, AVG says it's 2014.0.4335 . I kind of think that's what it was before, but really can't remember.

The article you pointed to isn't germane (or I hope not). I hadn't rebooted yet; had other things to do first, & then there were Windows updates (which took a *long* time to run), so I only rebooted a few minutes ago. So far, it hasn't asked me to reboot again <crosses fingers>. (Somewhere along the line, the box asking me to reboot just quietly vanished, BTW.)
This is really strange, though. In the AVG user interface, I now go to reports & find that the entry that said "update failed" now says "Update finished" & "Update completed successfully." (If the "failed" was only because I hadn't rebooted yet, I can only say that this actually discouraged me from rebooting right away.)
I'm having serious trouble with the 2014 Summer update. I've been using AVG for years but this time I'm getting the "invalid license" issue. I've removed AVG from my system, ran the FIX tool, removed all AVG references from the registry, downloaded and installed a clean version of AVG and still get this error.
I have no firewall running and no other anti-virus software installed.
I've read most of the posts on these forums, run through the remove/install process three times this morning, and every time I receive the same "invalid license" error. I'm almost ready to desert AVG and look for an alternative. Can anyone suggest a fix that actually works?

I've got an error during installation of the AVG Free 2014 summer update which had no further information available on your website when I followed the link. I think it might be because I need to suspend Outpost Security protection before running the update.
However once the update has ended with an error there is no facility for retrying the update process.
I would attach the log but having requested for it to be saved at the end of the update process I now can't find it in C:\ where I asked for it to be saved!
There appears to be no information under the Reports menu option about this problem. How can I collect further information about my problem so you can help me?
