Won't Load, Won't Uninstall...

AVG PC TuneUp 2014
Version: 14.0.1001.229

I was using the 2013 version, very happy with it.

I have several months to go on my subscription so I accepted the 2014 update. It worked fine on Windows 7 (Dell laptop) and Windows Vista (HP Desktop) but then I loaded it onto an old Dell laptop that runs Windows XP.

It installed, updated and then would not load.

When I go to control panel and try to uninstall, I get a brief flash of the hourglass and then nothing.

I’ve tried to reinstall it. I get the pop-up message that a newer program is already installed and it’s over.

I tried to do a Windows System Restore to a time before I loaded the 2014 update, it won’t run.

AVG RescueCenter gave the following popup error message under the header:

RescueCenter.exe – Bad Image :

The Application or DLL C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG PC TuneUp\PowerManager.bpl is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

I tried to use PC TuneUp Uninstall Manager – got this popup error message:

Unspecified error occurred in the following AVG components:
UninstallManager.exe_20131117
Would you like to send an error report to AVG?”

Would the AVG Removal Tool also take off all AVG PC TuneUp files?

I posted this in this thread as it seemed most similar to my problem.

I’d really appreciate some help with this.

Can't uninstall PC TuneUp..
