I quit playing WoW a few months ago, but I like to keep the client up to date..

But today, when downloading the latest updates, AVG popped up saying:

Malware detected

File name: C:\Users\Public\Games\World of warcraft\temp\wow-4.0.0.1807-to-4.0.0.2103-enus-tools-downloader.exe

Threat name: Unknown

Severity level: ****

Description: Not available

It wants me to either "Move to vault" or "Allow. Will leave the file as it is now".

Should I just leave it?

Hello Pupill,

You should choose to allow the file.
You can read more about the cause of the detection on page 1 of this thread.

Your triple posting has been hidden.
Did you have any issues posting in this thread?

Thanks

Thanks, I clicked "Allow".

Yes, I was confused by having to write a Title when posting in an open thread, that was new to me. And so when my post came up on a new page, I thought I had made a new thread in stead.

STILL not fixed?!?!..

I see that these posts are from late 2010, and I just now had AVG delete my entire World of Warcraft game!!!!!! WTF? PLEASE tell me what I need to do, because I have paid a lot of money and now to have this c**p virus protection delete the entire thing is very VERY frustrating!

I somehow managed to look through my files and find the WoW launcher and was able to launch the game, but something is messed up now and I can no longer log on. angry

Why hasn't this been fixed after over 6 months?

General Behavioral Detection..

I know this thread is very old, but I thought I would try anyway. Today I received a message saying I had a threat from WoW.

Threat: General behavioral detection
Object name: C:/USERS/PUBLIC/GAMES/WORLDOFWARCRAFT/WOW-64.EXE

My boyfriend basically hit the "Protect Me (Recommended)" option and uninstalled World of Warcraft. I have the full version of the latest AVG Internet Security. Any ideas???? :( Thank you in advance!
