When a virus is found by the fanotify oad scanner it does not show up in the event log:

$ cat ~/temp/eicar
cat: /home/user/temp/eicar: The operation is not allowed.
$ sudo avgevtlog -s oad
AVG command line event log viewer

$ uname -a
Linux workstation 3.10.0 #1 SMP Sun Jul 14 14:04:18 CEST 2013 i686 GNU/Linux
$ sudo avgevtlog -v
AVG command line event log viewer

event log viewer version: 13.0.3109

Hi Xypron,

Sorry for not replying sooner.

Not all events are written into avgevtlog, OAD writes into oad log and avgctl - Avgctl --stat=oad

Another note – OAD would not detect infection in the case that it is cached. In this scenario the infected file is blocked, but no new virus finding is visible in log or statistics.

Thanks,

Michael Allen
