a) The xml file produced by avgevtlog when using --xml option does not seem to be valid (fails to open with MS InfoPath, MS Word and MS Excel) - pa**e error. Have not tried other xml viewers so far
b) The avgupdate will also check for newer program versions (apart from virus definitions)? If so, the update is done automatically as in the case of the virus dbs?
c) If program update is also done via avgupdate, is this processed logged and then displayed by avgevtlog? If so, how is the relevant line in the avgevtlog output? (e.g. in the case of virus db update we have
2013-07-07 15:59:00 Update: Started scheduled update with priority 2.
2013-07-07 15:59:21 Avid: Loaded core/iavi version: 3204/6471.
2013-07-07 15:59:21 Update: Update was successfully completed.)

Thanks

Page http://www.xmlvalidation.com/ returns "No errors were found " to me.
Correct xml export: $avgevtlog -x -f <file_name.xml>

Yes. But this option is disabled by default.

013-07-07 15:59:00 Update: Started scheduled update with priority 2.
This is info about update priority - see man page of avgupdate. Value "2" means virus database update.

2013-07-07 15:59:21 Avid: Loaded core/iavi version: 3204/6471.
This is info which core and virus database is used (core/virus_db).

2013-07-07 15:59:21 Update: Update was successfully completed.)
This is general information about update result.

Regards,

R.

Thanks for your reply.
a) At the end however, how can we see the log of past program (not core/virusdb) updates?
b) What is the output of the avgupdate process when a program (not core/virusdb) update is available?

Many thanks

Hi,

a) In event log is info about update with priority 4:
2013-07-07 15:59:00 Update: Started scheduled update with priority 4.
...
2013-07-07 15:59:21 Update: Update was successfully completed.

b) I'm not sure what you mean with output, but process is similar as with core/iavi update - download info about update, perform backup, download and update mentioned files.

Regards,

ER
