Hi, Having used the AVG rescueCD dated 22-11-2012 (with database updates) for some months, I decided to burn and use the new AVG rescueCD dated 16-05-2012. The new rescue CD starts to boot but halts almost immediately at "ISOLINUX 5.01 2013-01-28 ETCD" with a flashing cursor at the end. I am running XP pro SP3 on a Dell Precision 670 dual Xeon 4GB RAM. Just out of interest I tried the new RescueCD on an old Compaq P3 and it ran fine. Could this be a Linux / Hardware issue on the Dell, and if so, is there a fix? Thank you.

Beta RescueCD Tried..

Hi Rigby,
Thank you for your response. I tried the beta RescueCD and received the same outcome as with the latest stable release of the RescueCD. The last RescueCD that worked on my system used, I think, ISOLINUX 4 whereas the latest release RescueCD uses ISOLINUX 5. Is there a way of testing ISOLINUX on a Windows system to see if this is the problem. Thank you for your help.

Hi Paul,

please try this file: https://share.avg.com/arl/dev/test/test.iso and let us a result.
This is experimental (new syslinux/isolinux), only for your needs.

test.iso tried..

Hi Rigby, Thank you for your response and the image test.iso. I tried the rescue CD made from test.iso and get the same problem with a halt at ISOLINUX 5.10 2013-06-04 ETCD. The opening menu does not appear. The updated ISOLINUX version 5 has clearly not resolved the problem.
