I recently bought AVG 2013 File Server Business Edition and am looking forward to using it on our server. A little background on the server, It has the following Roles and services:

Domain Controller
DNS
DHCP
RRAS
Terminal Services
OpenVPN Services
File Services
IIS
sql express 2005

The os is server 2008 standard. It has a raid 5 configuration and 8 gb of ram. Xeon Quad Core

There are a total of 6 users and 1 admin on the computer, so I bought the 10 connection license just to cover my bases.

My question is how should I go about installing the software on the server? Should I exclude Online Shield, LinkScanner, Personal Email Scanner, and firewall when doing a custom install on the server? Do I need to configure file and extension exclusions in the antivirus program? Any Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi abcd12345,

Please use the latest AVG for Servers installation file from this link:

http://www.avg.com/gb-en/download.prd-fsc

The AVG for Servers file does not contain any of the Online Shield, LinkScanner, Firewall components. The only thing that you may not want to install is the AVG for Sharepoint plugin included with this file (This plugin is only available if Sharepoint is installed on the Server).

The only file excludes we recommend are the ones for Exchange if installed on the Server. These can be found here - http://www.avg.com/gb-en/faq.num-4512

Databases may need excluding from the On access scanner if you notice any slowdown after installing AVG. Instructions for adding an exclusion - http://www.avg.com/gb-en/faq.num-5187

Hope this answers the questions. Please let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks,

Michael Allen
