Error " Called object needs to be initialized first"..

Using the AVG 2012 admin console, when attempting to use the install avg on stations function under tools, I'm running into a problem when trying to begin the install. I can select the scanning method, then the scope, but on the third page to start the scan I receive the message:

"Server report error when processing command. Called object needs to be initialized first."

I can, however, run the network installer wizard and proceed through the dialog to install on stations that way and there is no problem. Was there a setup step that may have been missed?

Hi Ejanitor,

If you would like us to look into this issue we would need some log files from the Server. The network installer wizard is the recommended way to install AVG remotely so its not too much of an issue that the lite version of the installer is giving an error.

This is not caused by a setup step you have missed. If you would like us to look into what is happening please attach this log file to your reply:

- Induce the issue so the error is logged
- Gather this file:

XP\Server 2003 - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVG2012\Admin Log\log\admnetworkinstaller.log
Vista\7\Server 2008 and later - C:\Program Data\AVG2012\Admin Log\log\admnetworkinstaller.log

If you add the log to a zip file, it should be under the 2mb attachment limit.

Thanks,

Michael Allen

Hi Ejanitor,

Thanks for the log file. Unfortunately the cause of the issue did not appear to be logged. Is the Admin Server connected to SQL database?

Thanks,

Michael Allen

Hi ejanitor,

Thanks for the info. This issue should be fixed in the 2013 version of the Admin Console. If all the workstations are running AVG 2012 on the network, please upgrade to the latest console:

http://www.avg.com/gb-en/download.prd-rad

- Run the installation file from the link above to upgrade the existing console.

Test the network installer and the error should have disappeared.

Let us know if this is not the case.

Thanks,

Michael Allen
