I did an AVG update on my vista computer, and when I started up next day, it stayed in the windows loading screen forever.
When I try to start safe mode, it gets stuck on /DRIVERS/avgidsha.sys, so I am guessing the problem is AVG related.

I tried burning AVG Rescue discs, and Windows recovery discs, but none of them seems to work, I get the error, Boot From AHCI CD-ROM, error.

I opened BIOS, and changed boot sequence, I changed bootup with F8, but nothing helped.
I even tried to replace my disc drive.

Hello Nicknametaken123,

Some users solved similar issues by changing SATA mode from AHCI to IDE compatibility mode in BIOS.

Several users were able to boot normally without changing anything, but first complete boot takes about 30 minutes.

Other users reported that performing CHKDSK from Windows recovery console solved their issue.

Please provide us with the results.

Thank you
