My most recent AVG scan on my Android found a suspicious text message that it said could potentially be part of a phishing scheme. It wouldn't say which message it was, however, it only offered to mark it with a warning (presumably if the message was resent?). I looked through my text messages and there wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Most of them are from people I know and google's system for two-step verification. I did recently sign-up for banking alerts on my phone, and the activation texts were still in my message list. I deleted all of those messages, restarted the phone and ran the scan again - it found nothing. The AVG people I called said it was probably clean, but couldn't elaborate on whether it was a true "false positive" or not. Has anyone had any experience with mobile alerts being mistakenly marked as spam or suspicious?

Hello NeilB1984,

I would like to inform you that currently these types of sms/texts will be marked as "Suspicious" - as they do contain suspect phrases such as "credit" and a phone number - and that we are currently working on improving the detection engines.

Thank you

Hi georgija,

It is possible to add sender to the trusted list. To do so please open AVG AntiVirus -> Privacy -> Call and Message Blocker -> Messages -> select incorrectly marked message -> Add sender to trusted list -> Ok.

Note that the version 3.1 was released recently and its installation is strongly recommended.

Let me know the results.

Thanks.

I got a text at 3:50 AM saying "--Suspicious---Suspicious Text Message-- Please Use Code [number] To Confirm Access To Your Phone For Login Approvals. -- Checked By AVG Antivirus avgmobile.com"

Do I reply to this message or ignore it? - PS: I don't seem to have any suspicious messages on my phone.

Hello Pol666,

If this message is not from a trusted source (your bank etc) then it is most likely some kind of phishing message.

Please note that it is not a message from AVG.Original text of the message was just

Please Use Code [number] To Confirm Access To Your Phone For Login Approvals.

Thank you
