There is an issue with the interaction between AVG 2013 Free Edition and this version of TBird.

I have been using the PEMS for quite awhile now with no issues, but now it is interfering with the delivery of messages and my ability to open folders in TBird.

I have confirmed the credentials in TBird, deleted and recreated the account in TBird, validated and recreated the server settings in AVG 2013, re-installed AVG 2013, all to no avail.

When I recreate the account, and initially log in, TBird downloads a few weeks' worth of messages into the inbox, then hangs interminably. It will not let me open any other folders once it gets to this point.

I am able to send messages, but they are not scanned by AVG, and since TBird is hung up, it won't open the sent mail folder to see them (still gives me a message that it is downloading message XX of XXXX).

When I revert to the standard GMail settings in TBird without AVG in the middle, there is no issue downloading the messages or opening folders.

I've attached log files. Any other reports like this?

Hi pammydavisjr,

We have reported that there is some problem with Thunderbird client and Gmail. But we don't have sufficient information - log files to analyze the issue.
Your attached log files are also insufficient. Please provide us with all AVG Log files

Thank you

The logs have all been uploaded to your FTP server (P Davis_27012219.7z).

The TB client seems to be working fine with the standard GMail settings, it is only when I have the AVG Personal E-Mail Scanner set up that I am seeing this problem.

Let me know if you need any more info, thanks.

Hi pammydavisjr,

The file P Davis_27012219.7z has zero size on AVG FTP server. Could you provide the log files again ?

Thank you

I'm sorry, but uploaded file is again zero size. Could you upload the file to some online storage ? like rapidshare, dropbox etc.

Thank you

I'm going to try this one more time - the file should be 182KB or so.

What is the status of the research on this? I note a few other postings that report similar issues.
