Hello,

I have a netbook (windows XP pack 3, no CD drive) and many viruses in it. The task manager is disabled, explorer.exe won't load/start. Safe mode does work (blue screen and reboot each time I select it), so all I get is a blank desktop. So I tried AVG rescue disc for USB, in order to enable the task manager through the registry editor, but when I try to modify the problem key which look like this :

------------

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\currentVersion\Policies\System]

“DisableTaskMgr” =dword:00000001

------------

(I need to change the value to 00000000)

so when I do, I get this error : " failure registry writing: 1 "

I tried removing it too, but the screen get stuck.

is it possible it's because I need some kind of administrator rights? and ca you help me or do you have a solution for this ?? :S

thank you in advance (:
