Can't open AVG at all..

AVG is running in the system tray, and wants my attention, but I can no longer open the UI.

When I first upgraded to Win8 Pro, I could open the interface, and it seemed just fine. Now Windows says the app isn't compatible and closes it.

Upgrading to the home edition and losing the central management features is a very poor workaround. That's the point of the business edition, to be able to centrally manage everything. If I wanted to run around manually keeping tabs on all installations of AVG I wouldn't have bothered with the business edition.

Please get a patch out or something to make AVG 2012 Business usable on Windows 8; this is unacceptable, you guys should have had a patch or version ready to go, there was plenty of lead time.

The AVG 2012 Firewall is not compatible with Windows 8. If you wish to stay with AVG 2012 uninstall KB2764462 (Compatibiliy update that prevents AVG from installing).

The Business version of AVG 2013 should be available fairly soon.

I don't have the AVG firewall installed, only the antivirus. I get the same error when I go to Programs and Features and try to uninstall AVG.

The odd thing is that it seems to be working ok on another workstation.

As long as the compatibility update is not installed then AVG should work okay. Please repair the installation using the latest installation file from this link if this is the case:

If the issue is not resolved, can you reply with a screenshot of the error please.

What update?..

Which compatibility update are you referring to? The workstation it was working on started getting the same problem, so if I can uninstall the update blocking AVG that would be great.

AVG 2013 Business version is now available:

http://www.avg.com/gb-en/download.prd-ise

AVG 2013 Admin will manage AVG 2012\2013 installations. To upgrade either the Admin or workstation\Server version just run the latest installation file and the older version will be removed.

Please be aware the upgrade requires a restart of the machines.
