1. Scheduled scan did not run. I set the time so it would start while I watched and it didn't do it. Still get 2 second scan with no files reviewed. It appears to update. I think I'm on the free AVG on this XP PC. (paid version on #2 PC)
2. I used the Control Panel 'uninstall' method. I'll try again once I get that computer back up and running. I'm waiting for my restore disc to be delivered. Had to order one. PC crashed before I made the new PC backup.
I am running Windows XP SP3. I recently installed version 2793 and it does not manually scan. I downloaded the Diag tool and it installs strangely and cannot find where it unpacked the components. After searching for it, I was able to start AVG_Diag.exe, but is always fails. See the attached. Can you offer any suggestions?
ok Ive been experiencing the same prb all on this link has. I want to thank you for the info that the scheduled scan works. I have finally been able run a scan. I have two comp. using this software. both were paid subscripts with no problems until the scripts expired and I downloaded the free version. (both 2013, paid and free) My lap top running win7 No problems at all making the transition, all works as it should. My desk top, running XP SP3, that is another story. I thought I had a real problem downloaded from the internet. I ran RKILL in safe mode and then ran Malwarebytes, See tools, uniblue, spybot search and destroy, to make sure it wasnt something I downloaded. there was nothing there. I contacted tech support and they sent me the same email with the link to gather the logs and send them back to avg for scrutiny. I have uninstalled and installed several times. I even went with a competitors program, just to see what they picked up. that one really slowed me down. Still havent heard from avg on what they have found in response to the email. But I am getting calls from their sales staff "wanting to help me make it easier to renew my subscriptions" Not until this glich is sorted out.
thanks for all the input on this thread, i was at wits end. now settled with the schedule option and will wait.
"I would like to inform you that issue is fixed and will be released in following cumulative update (build 2857 and higher)."...but no instructions / link as to where to get that from. I've updated in the program but still the same
Please check your present version?.. I don't think that you'll be anywhere near to version 2857 which hasn't been released yet!
