Hi all,

After a recent reboot I noticed that the PC Tuneup tray notification icon has disappeared. I can run the program manually, but it seems I am unable to run live optimization or turbo mode. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

It seems that all AVG PC TuneUp processes are running fine. It is possible that settings were changed. Please check AVG PC TuneUp -> Settings -> Notification area icon that the Always value is selected.

Thanks for your help. I have since done a complete uninstall/reinstall and the problem remains, even with Notification Area Icon set to 'Always.'

Tray icon still missing..

I posted on this forum several months ago regarding the sudden disappearance of the AVG PC Tuneup tray icon. The mods very helpfully referred me to AVG Customer Service, who have consistently failed to provide me with assistance. Different personnel keep giving me the same ineffective suggestions again and again!

I have tried doing a complete reinstall of PCT with Revo Uninstaller several times, and I have manually removed registry entries and files that Revo misses. Every single time the program loads the same way--i.e., without the tray icon, and seemingly without live optimization. I even purchased a new license thinking that might work. It didn't!

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? How exactly does PCT load into memory? What processes are supposed to be running when PCT is idling in the system tray (my computer only shows TuneUpUtilities32.svc)? How are these processes loaded? Is it by means of a startup program, like avgui.exe? What registry keys are responsible for loading AVG on bootup??

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm $40 poorer and at my wit's end.

I recommend following this article and checking incorrect values for the TuneUpUtilitiesApp32.exe; TuneUpUtilitiesApp64.exe; TuneUpUtilitiesService32.exe; TuneUpUtilitiesService64.exe keys. What is the situation now?
