Trying to install on an XP laptop. I removed an old never updated 2008 McAfee. I also disabled HP ProtectTools via msconfig --> Startup.

Ran the removal tool (remove log attached).

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Just a point in passing.... Did you download & run the McAfee full removal tool?.... Have a look @ this link Before Installing AVG. If you didn't, To totally uninstall &/or remove remnants you'll need to download, save & run the McAfee uninstall utility.

McAfee removal..

I ran through McAfee's recommended sequence to uninstall.

I just now used the MCPR total removal tool (from your link), followed by avg_remover, but end up with the same result after re-running the 2013 installation (fresh download).

Hello TerrorClaw

For help on your issue please try uninstalling Microsoft Security Client prior to AVG installation.

Thank you

Just uninstalled Microsoft Security, ran AVG remover, and installation still fails. New install log attached.

EDIT - added 7zip'd version of install log

Hi TerrorClaw,

please provide us with MSinfo output.
Please install Root certificate update for Windows XP and try to install AVG again.

Thank you

Root cert update didn't change anything. I added msinfo in the first post, here it is again. Thanks for looking!

I see in your MSinfo that you have all AVG drivers disabled and running! confused Except that is avgidsagent service running.
Please run uninstall and/or AVG remover, and remove all remnants of AVG. Also please remove Microsoft security client. After that, please provide us with fresh MSinfo output to check, and try again to install AVG.

Thank you
