Thanks! It seems to have solved my problems with both Chrome and iTunes!

I used https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/32bit_InetCtrl67.zip to replace C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\AVG Family Safety\InetCtrl67.dll ,
and https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/64bit_InetCtrl67.zip to replace C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG Family Safety\InetCtrl67.dll

No! I spoke too early - the intermittend problems with Chrome freezing still occurs even with the new InetCtrl67.dll 's!

I also get these error messages popping up in a new Chrome tab:

Does this issue occur on some specified web address or on any?. Did you try to see if it occurs also with disabled chrome addons?

Also please try reset your Host file for help on your issue.

I used to get the idea that it is triggered by any web page that contains many small files (like google image search), but lately I can not reproduce that. It could happen at any time, and then ALL my Chrome tabs are frozen. Sometimes I can work for hours without getting the problem, other times it can become something like 2 minute frozen and then 1 minute running.

I checked my hosts file - it is still the original Win 7 version.

No, there is no one particular site, but most visited include Google Search, NFL.com, and Facebook.

I tried the above suggestions including resetting the host file.
