Running XP with service pack 3. Ran into the same updating problem as a lot of folks so I removed the software using the AVG uninstaller. Used Microsoft rootsupd.exe - Rebooted and tried a few times to download and install AVG2012-Free but it won't finish. I get Error codes 0xE0010013 and 0xC0070643. I'm not sure where I got rootsupd.exe but I can't get it directly through MS because my version of XP will not validate. (second hand computer). Anyone got any ideas? AVG has been brilliant for the several years I've used it. Thanks!

Install log attached..

Tried manually deleting any stray AVG files left on my PC and giving install another try - It almost gets to the end but fails with the same error codes above. Here's my install log. I'm out of ideas.

Solved!..

There must have been a little bit of code left after I uninstalled from the previous version of AVG2012 that interfered with the new install. Go to 'Download Tools' and select the appropriate AVG Remover Tool. (32 or 64 bit). http://www.avg.com/ww-en/utilities Run it and it will purge at the DOS level and then reboot. Then reinstall the latest version of AVG. Had to reset all my preferences but no big deal. Good luck to everyone and I hope this helps.
