Every day when the computer is switched on I get an error in a window saying:

Runtime error
Program c:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2012\avgtray.exe
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

When this occurs at least 1 application window freezes and/or cannot be displayed, potentially causing data loss. The only thing I can do is to close down the entire system in as orderly way as possible and restart the computer.
This is driving me nuts and wasting a lot of time.

My system has an Intel Quad Q6600 processor, 3Gb RAM, >1Tb disc space on 2 spindles and runs XP Pro SP3 and Firefox.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

Can you please tell us when the issue started to occurring?

Please create process crash dump of C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2012\avgtray.exe and provide us with results along with Msinfo output for further analysis.
