I keep getting this Windows error message "avgcmgr.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." I've attached a couple of pictures captured from the error box. Couple of things I don't under stand, first when I look at task manager I never see this .exe file even running and second, how come under 8.5 I never had this issue.
I'm using Version 9 and it is fully up to date. Windows XP Professional is the OS. Nothing bad happens due to the error but it is very annoying as it continually pops up every once in a while. Is there anyway to stop this behavior and why does it happen at all?
I set up Dr. Watson as outlined by the AVG link and rebooted my machine. I just let the machine sit there till the error window popped up. I clicked DO NOT SEND and then checked for the Dr. Watson files. There was only an empty log file. I then rebooted, let the error message pop up and this time clicked SEND REPORT. I then checked Dr. Watson again and still the empty log file and no dump file. So seems that trying this is useless. I never had this issue with 8.5 and I don't want to update to 2012 as that seems to have issues from what people are reporting. I'll wait till it is a bit more mature.
Ah, if you read my post, I did setup Dr. Watson according to the instructions. The error box that pops up does not crash the system, so I suspect that is why Dr. Watson didn't acquire any data that could be sent to AVG. AVG has some sort of bug.
I verified that Dr. Watson was setup correctly and no dump file was being created. The log file was empty. I've gathered the msinfo file and avg log files into a zip file but it is larger than the 2MB limit for attaching to a reply. So how do I submit the information???????????
OK, found the service utility to upload to the FTP server, so will do that.
Utility said it uploaded my zip file as GBR248525.7z
