Hello, I noticed my laptop has been extremely hot even while idling for the last several days so I checked my process list and found that AVGIDSAgent.exe is using roughly 50% of my processor at all times. I tried disabling ID Protection in AVG as I saw suggested on cnet.com and this did not resolve the problem.

My MSINFO file is located here: http://www.clockshopman.com/Anna_MSINFO.zip, but here is a summary:
Win XP SP3
AVG 10.0.1411 w/ Virus DB 2092/3973,
CCleaner installed (not active in background)
Spybot S&D installed (not active in background)
Amazon MP3 Uploader
No additional firewall, backup, or protection software.

Any help would be appreciated

Hello ArmyNick,

Can you please confirm that even with Identity Protection disabled AVGIDSAgent.exe continues to use ~50% cpu?

Please also provide us with all AVG log files.

Thank you

I have the same problem.
50% CPU (one core) used by services.exe.
I've disabled the Identity Protection but I receive an error.

Then I suspend the tread AVGIDSAgent.exe inside services.exe, and the problem was solved.
(Using Sysinternas Process Explorer)

I have uploaded file: capcata997.7z using AVG tool

Thanks!
Guido

Hello capcata,

Log files appear to be incomplete, please try to perform all steps in full reinstallation instructions.
Upgrade to AVG 2012 if possible.

Should the issue persist, provide us with fresh log files and with MSinfo output.

Thank you
