I go to install AVG.
It does the set-up extract then goes on to initializing installation.
Then i get 3 choices, add or remove features, repair and remove.
But i havent actually got AVG installed.
When i click remove it just closes the window.
When i click repair it loads for abit and then i get this error message

Severity: Error
Error code:0xc0070643
Error message: General internal error.
Additional message: Creation of empty AVI database files failed (0xE0010058)
Context: MSI action failed

Also when i click add or remove features it gives me options of things to add etc, then starts loading then i also get the same message.

Ive never had a problem with AVG before but after a few weeks of installing AVG 2011 its just not working what so ever.

Could anybody tell me how i could fix this problem? Thanks.

Fix for my extract but not install…

I was trying to install AVG 2011 to WinXP 64, and the extraction process would complete, but then nothing. AVG had not been previously installed but avast had.

I followed the recommended removal procedures for both, but no joy.

I could not find where the extracted files had gone. So I checked and the Windows system temporary file (default C:\windows\temp) as pointed to in the system environmental variables did not exist. The user temporary file (default C:\Documents and Settings\…\Local Settings\Temp) did exist. Apparently AVG uses the system temporary directory while most use the user temporary file.

I created the directory and now I have to go, AVG wants to do a system scan. Hope this helps somebody.
