Can I run a AVG 2011 scan in Safe Mode in WinXP?
I tried but next to each file it said something about "Locked," and could not be checked, etc.

Locked Files - Not Tested.... http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-free-forum?sec=thread&act=show&id=117835#post_117835. Also have a look @ FAQ #2677 http://free.avg.com/ww-en/faq.num-2677#num-2677.

Do not understand..

Thank you, but I am sorry that I cannot understand either explanation.
My question was: "Can AVG scan be run in Safe Mode?"

I did try to run it but it did not say (as it does when not in safe mode) that No Exceptions Found, etc.
The program just closed and I don't know if it did a scan and whether scan found anything, etc.
Can AVG be run in Safe Mode? It said something about Command Line scan (something like that), which does not explain anything to me, as a novice.

Yes, You've already done this according to your original posting but have a look @ this 'How-To' link How To Run A Full Computer Scan In Safe Mode. Also have a read thro' this link http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-free-forum?sec=thread&act=show&id=150649 & provide the required info in dusano123's post #150685 if you still have an issue.

Thank you. That thread was a bit easier to understand. However, still do not understand when it states:
"limited to command scan line only"....

In the Safe Mode when you double-clicked the AVG desktop icon did have The Command Line Composer displayed?.

Thank you..

Do not know what you mean by "Did you have The Command Line Composer displayed."
When the scan was running it looked like white printing on black background (like the old DOS pagees). When it finished it said something like:
"20 Locked files not tested. Command line scan run." Which I did not understand, therefore my asking questions.

Scan Results shows:

Name - Command line scan
Start time - 5/6/2011 - 10:57 AM
End time - 5/6/2011 - 12:14 PM
Tested objects - 1037823
Infections - 0/0
Spyware - 0/0
Warnings - 0/0
Rootkits -- 0/0

Please look @ & read thoroughly again the 'How To Run A Full Computer Scan In Safe Mode' & associated FAQ #3027!!

20 Locked files not tested

Please check out & read thoroughly the 2 links in my 1st posting again!! If you would like to scan all files (even the locked ones), you can use AVG Rescue CD.
