Hey I was browsing the internet today on target.com after I found what I was looking for I closed the browser (Internet explorer ver.7.0.5730.13) and a few seconds later I got an error message saying "avgnsx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" I clicked ok, I checked task manager and watched avgnsx.exe leave the process list and after a few seconds it came back in the process list, I'm assuming it restarted it self.

I have to error in the Application log related to this problem

the first is

Description:
Faulting application avgnsx.exe, version 8.5.0.401, faulting module avgxpl.dll, version 8.5.0.401, fault address 0x00021592

the second is

Description:
Fault bucket 1389155238.

What do the errors mean, what caused them and do I need to do anything to fix the problem like reinstalling AVG 8.5?

I also encountered this exact situation this morning, August 07(GMT + 10 hours)

Except I was using Firefox..

And another person experiencing this problem.
It occurred at 13:30 GMT/UTC 16:30 Greek Summer Time.
I'm running Windows XP SP2, IE7, AVG Free 8.5.441 VDB 271.1.1/3055.
After it occurred it seems that AVGNSX.EXE was automatically restarted.
But I could no longer get to any websites.
I have rebooted and things seem OK at the moment.

I was able to get back on the internet with no problem after, I did't reboot till after my first post, I had no additional problems sence I used the system for about 6 hours after going on and off IE7 with no problems .

I never seen or heard of this problem before and I've had AVG free for about 5 years now on 3 different systems I hope it was just a one time thing.

What I would like to know is will this be a constant problem and somthing I have to try to fix or will this be the only time I have this issue?

I neglected to say that my Event Viewer shows the same...

but I don't see an Event id 1001.

We can only wait and see if the glitch is explained.

Further, I prefer to use a prg called Process Hacker instead of Windows Task Manager.
Process Hacker shows several 'sessions' of avgnsx.exe running, depending on the number of ports being monitored.
I wasn't quick enough to determine which port was being monitored by the closed session of avgnsx.exe.

I have just re-checked my AVG event history and although there is nothing there about avgnsx.exe, I noticed that Update has been struggling to complete over the past week or so > up to 30 mins last saturday. I have a satellite connection, but it normally completes within 3 minutes.

This has been the pattern over the past few days..

No problem here with updates no longer than 5 min for me. but I manually update in the morning when I boot up and I disabled the auto update because it uses a lot of the cpu on my old pc when it runs.

i have the similar problem and even after the update of aug 07 the problem still persist avgnsx.exe crashes and restarts on its own and if you're downloading stuff it kills the download.

It crashes and a pop-up from avg appears saying technical problem and report to avg. been doing for 2 days already but avg looks fine just avgnsx.exe crashes

Mabey this is why they haven't released a Link scanner update sence Ver. 301 on the 6th?

I just wish someone would let us know whats going on, looks like most of us are fortunate to have had the problem only once, but I don't like that someone is having a consistant issue with this.

I havn't had any issues downloading anything so far.

Had the same problem again today, going to attempt a fresh install of 8.5 and see if it fixes it.
